How long have we all been banging on about being stuck in the rabbit hole of committing to and then cutting our subscriptions, to certain streaming services? It’s like a modern-day romance really, falling in and out of love with each other on a monthly basis because the service can no longer give us what we want, our needs left unsatisfied. That is at least until these services come sliding back into our direct messages via ads or email, for example, pleading how they’ve changed and have something new and exclusive to offer us. Talking about what’s on offer, check out our latest Merchandiser of the Month for May here to see which content was being best promoted by the streaming services.
Fear not, we all have a much better chance of long-term commitment now, with Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery deciding to lay down their swords and form an alliance. Announcing that their joint bundle of joy is on the way, users will now be able to enjoy Disney+, Hulu, and Max services all under one subscription, with both ad-supported or ad-free plans up for grabs. This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for, and we can’t quite fathom how exciting it’ll be to jump into a service where all of our favourite Disney and Warner Bros. content lives in harmony with one another. Like kids in a candy store. This wasn’t the first, or even second time that Max took the spotlight in May, take a look at our latest Merchandiser of the Month here to find out why. And that’s not all as Comcast also announces that it will be launching a bundle, allowing users access to Peacock, Netflix and Apple TV+ at a “vastly reduced price”. Ah, the future of streaming has never looked brighter with the beginning of this new chapter.
These bundles weren’t the only gifts in May worthy of being wrapped and placed under the tree. It seems Christmas has arrived early, and not just because TikTok is already promoting #ChristmasTok videos, where users festively decorate steaming cups of cocoa and don reindeer-covered pyjamas. Can you believe that? Netflix makes another big move in the sporting arena, announcing that it will stream live NFL games on the 25th of December 2024, as part of a three-year deal with the NFL. This is the season when we eagerly anticipate coming together, and the excitement will be amplified by the thought of us all sitting on our sofas and simultaneously tuning into Netflix worldwide to enjoy an event in real-time. NFL Executive Vice President of Media Distribution said “The NFL on Christmas has become a tradition and to partner with Netflix, a service whose biggest day of the year is typically this holiday, is the perfect combination to grow this event globally for NFL fans.”
All in all, streamers, please keep this coming…
