NewscastStudio and Rick Howe, Host of “The Friday Fireside” and “Talk Back to Television,” feature Looper Insights’ “Who Holds the Power in Sports Rights in 2026” report, drawing on responses from 52 executives across leagues, broadcasters, streaming services, and distribution partners.
The report finds that 40.4% of respondents believe sports leagues and rights holders will hold the strongest negotiating position in the next cycle – ahead of global streaming services at 28.8%. At the same time, 44.2% say rights holders are pushing fragmentation too far, prioritising short-term revenue over fan experience, with a further 32.7% warning that long-term fan value is already eroding.
